Arnold recently attended the GCPR-2026 conference, where he presented our latest research findings to an international audience of researchers and experts.
At the conference, Arnold presented his paper “From Heat to Force: Retrospective Estimation of Finger Contact Forces from Thermal Signatures”, which was co-authored with Levente Hernadi, Steffen Puhlman, Nils Harnischmacher, Erik Rodner, Hannes Höppner, and Kristian Hildebrand. The paper was presented both as a poster and selected for an oral presentation, providing an opportunity to discuss the research findings with conference attendees in various formats.
The paper focused on evaluating and analyzing the relationship between finger contact forces and the thermal signatures that humans leave behind when interacting with objects. This fundamental research question in the field of human-object interaction forms one of the foundations for learning by demonstration in robotics.
